Small-business cybersecurity that speaks your language.
You don't need a security team or an enterprise budget to find out where you're exposed. Start with a free tool anyone can use, and add more only when you need it.
Whitetip: is this email a scam? Just ask.
Forward a suspicious email and get a plain-language verdict on whether it's phishing. Whitetip is live in closed beta and we're onboarding in small batches — apply and we'll bring you on.
More than a checker.
Fixed prices, no lock-in, and answers you can act on. Pick the one that fits where you are.
Exposure Report
See what the internet already gives away about your business. We map your public attack surface the way an adversary would — leaked credentials, exposed files and services, look-alike domains, and the data points used to pick a target — and hand you a plain-language report on what to shut down first. Publicly available sources only.
Open-Source Due Diligence
Before you sign with a vendor, partner, or supplier, see what the public record shows: corporate and registration filings, sanctions and enforcement lists, litigation history, breach history, and online footprint, in one clear brief you can act on. Public sources only.
Cyber Insurance Questionnaire Prep
Insurance applications ask hard security questions. We help you understand what they're really asking, answer them accurately, and see exactly where your gaps are before you submit. We don't decide your eligibility or rates — we make sure your answers reflect reality.
Web app penetration test
The offensive testing the big firms gatekeep, sized for a business. We attack your app the way a real intruder would, then hand you a plain-language report with a ranked plan to close what we find. Every finding is machine-checked before it reaches the report and comes with a proof you can run yourself, plus a tamper-evident log of everything we touched. Powered by Mako — join the waitlist to be first in line.

Byteshark provides open-source research from publicly available sources only. We are not a licensed private detective agency and do not provide investigative, surveillance, or background-check services, or consumer reports under the FCRA. Research on individuals is not offered for employment, credit, tenancy, or insurance decisions.
Common questions.
Do I need to be technical to use any of this?
No. Whitetip gives you a plain-language verdict on a suspicious message, and every report we write is meant to be read by a business owner, not a security engineer. If a finding matters, we tell you what it means and what to do about it.
How much does small-business cybersecurity cost?
Whitetip is free for individuals and $29/mo for a team of up to 20. An Exposure Report starts at $750, Open-Source Due Diligence at $1,500 per brief, and Cyber Insurance Questionnaire Prep at $1,500 as a one-time assessment. Web app penetration testing is by application while Mako is in development. No retainers, no lock-in.
What's the difference between a vulnerability scan and a penetration test?
A scan flags things that might be vulnerable. A penetration test proves whether they actually are, by chaining weaknesses into a real attack the way an intruder would. We focus on proof, then hand you a ranked plan to fix what's real.
Do you lock me into a monthly contract?
No. Most local shops bundle security into an ongoing IT contract. We don't. You buy the specific work you need, once, with a clear price up front.
Are you actually local to Hawaii?
Yes. Byteshark LLC is based on Oahu and works with businesses across Hawaii, plus remote clients for the tools and research that don't depend on location.
Not sure where to start?
Tell us what's worrying you.
Tell us what's going on and we'll point you to the right thing, whether that's the free tool or a full engagement. No sales pitch.
